Torao Tokuda, President of the Tokushukai Group, Chairman of Tokushukai Medical Corporation

"We will decisively meet the challenges of true medical care."

First of all, the patient must be willing to entrust their life and well-being to the hospital. The personnel of the Tokushukai Medical Corporation firmly believe that medical care starts by cultivating and earning this kind of trust. Our overall system, which includes emergency care, advanced therapy, treatment of chronic illnesses, and preventive medicine is geared to attaining this goal. Distrust and dissatisfaction with medical facilities are often cited as a serious problem. As a member of the medical profession, I find this deeply disturbing. But I know we can overcome the lack of confidence if all medical practitioners reaffirm their determination to put the interests of the patient and the local community first and adopt a sincere, caring attitude toward their work.

By providing compassionate medical services, Tokushukai staff in 64 hospitals have won the trust of people all over Japan. We intend to continue our work, not only in large hospitals, but in local clinics as well, and in the kind welfare facilities that grow increasingly important as the graying of the Japanese population advances. Furthermore, we are expanding our medical and welfare facilities to serve the needs of depopulated and isolated areas and regions where medical care is insufficient. In our all-out efforts to provide the best possible care, we enthusiastically acquire the most advanced equipment and adopt the latest technology. In addition, we fully cooperate with establishment of the SNP database, which consists of the genomes of 300,000 patients promoted as a national project.

Our ideal is a society where everyone has access to optimum medical care whenever it is needed. Inspired by the mission of realizing this ideal and putting ourselves in the patient's shoes, we devote all our efforts toward regional expansion and improvement in the service to the entire population. This is the meaning of the Tokushukai medical revolution.
